Food: A foolproof way of ensuring you buy British.

If you want to support our economy by buying British, you might want to take this with you when shopping, so it is worth printing and cutting it out to have in your wallet or purse.

Let's stop the outsourcing of our jobs to foreign countries and help Britain out of the financial slump.

Always read the labels on the food packages. Don't accept the front of the box at face value. Turn it over and read t
he back, carefully!

With all the food and pet products now coming from China, it is best to make sure you read labels at the grocery store and especially Tesco/Asda when buying food products.

Many products no longer show where they were made, only give where the distributor is located. The country of origin is only in the bar code.

AmpersIt is therefore important to read the bar code to track it's origin if knowing this and buying British is important to you.  Here is what to look for -------------

You only need to know the first 3 numbers under the bar code graphic.

The whole world is concerned about China-made "black hearted goods". Can you differentiate which one is made in Taiwan or  China or Britain?

If the first 3 digits of the barcode are 690 691 or 692, the product is Made in China.

471 is Made in Taiwan .

This is our right to know, but the government and related departments never educate the public, therefore, we have to rescue ourselves.

Nowadays, Chinese businessmen know that consumers do not prefer products Made in China, so they don't show from which country it is made.

However, you may now refer to the barcode - remember if the first 3 digits are:

690-692 ... Then it is made in China
00 - 09 ...  USA &  Canada
30 - 37 ... France
40 - 44 ... Germany
471 ... Taiwa
49 ... Japan
50 ... UK

uy 'BRITISH' by watching for "50" at the beginning of the number. Why not write, or print out the seven lines above and tuck it in your purse or wallet?

Our economy needs every boost it can get!
