A followup on my previous post on sending emails. The subject line is more important than you may think!

How much consideration to you give to your subject line? This is much more important than some people realise.

I received an email from a colleague this afternoon and the subject line was just Pics - yes it was a couple of mugshots of the person I needed for the newspaper. For the sake of anonymity, we'll call him John Smith.

How much better if (a) he called the Photographs so anyone searching with photo or photograph or Photographs would find the. And, (b) if he mentioned the name of the person, or the subject?

For example:

Photographs of John Smith would mean, a year later I could easily find them. I would never remember to search for Pics!

Thinking of your wording of the subject line is just as important as the message you want to give.

Also, keep your message body short and concise. Make it easier for your recipient to get back to you.
