Asus Transformer Prime upgrade in Q2 - the TF700T

The following is an extract from PCMag in the US and confirms my previous note about an upgrade coming.

The Transformer Prime TF700T will bring a few key upgrades to Asus’s flagship line of tablets.

Most impressive is the 10.1-inch, 1,920-by-1,200-pixel (1080p) display. This new Super IPS+ display will be covered with Gorilla Glass and features the highest resolution we’ve seen on a 10-inch tablet yet. [Ampers: This is sorely needed as some of my videos left a little to be desired on the previous model]

The TF700T will also up the resolution on the front-facing camera from 1.2 megapixels to 2.0 megapixels, allowing for HD video chats on the tablet.

The internal specs will remain the same, with a powerful 1.2GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor and up to 64GB of storage. Asus has also worked out a new back panel design that should enhance Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS performance.

The tablet will run Andoid 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The TF700T will retail for $599 to $699 (depending upon your configuration), It will be available in North America starting in the second quarter of 2012. [Ampers: I hope Asus have learned the error of disappointing the UK Market and will offer them here simultaneously]

I presume this is the HD version? I can't wait!

Don't think so, I think Asus came to market too soon and this is the first one corrected and a few other things added.

Save your money unless you intend to get rid of your desktop and get the 700 when it comes out and, if so, buy the 32GB version not the 64GB version.

Remember the SDXD micro slot on the tablet can be as large as 64GB if you want. Ideal for all your data.

I downloaded about 250 apps and they hardly made a dent in the 32GB on board memory.

I really didn't need to have purchased the 32GB micro SD Card at all.

I would play it by ear, buy the 32GB version and nothing else until you are up to around 25GB full.

Only then make a decision on whether you need more storage and if so, how much do you need.

Are they having a laugh?

My HTC Sensation (I always think of Murray Walker) does far more than that!

I think the difference between us is I actually played with this for a week or two and recognised it as a superior tablet on the market, leaving the iPad standing.

Android 5.0 Jelly Bean:

The next version of Android is going to have a retrospective step to it. It will be able to run Windows 8 when to comes out. Who on earth would want that on an Android Pad?
